MRE meals are coming in handy for many people these days, and we are talking about civilians. These people are buying MRE meals in bulk, and they are taking them on camping trips, stocking up for natural disasters and much more. What would you plan to use them for? You need to know what types of meals there are, where to buy them and how to use them.

If you have never eaten an MRE meal before, they are very convenient and include everything. You still need to know the process for opening the pouch, however, and you need to be able to enjoy that delicious meal warm, right? Well you don't have to, but you certainly can warm your meal up if you like. How are you going to do that? No, you don't have to start rubbing two sticks together. What you do is use the ration heater that comes with your MRE meal.

As a matter of fact, it is flameless. That should make things easy, although it might take a minute. The MRE meals might seem primitive, but with a little patience and a desire for the right experience, they are neat little packages for sure. When you decide to eat MRE meals, you also have plenty of choices. You may like certain choices more than others, so be sure that you take a look around.

There are classic meals that you might be able to guess, and then there are the other meals you might not know are out there. Once you decide what you want, you can place your bulk order and wait for your shipment to arrive. A military helicopter will fly over your home, and with extreme precision, launch the package of MRE meals towards your front door. In all seriousness, your MRE meals will arrive shortly.

There was a time when the ready to eat meals were solely meant for the army men. As you know, the military is a big organization, and as you would expect, it attracts recruits from across all faiths. With different religions featuring different dietary requirements, there is need to ensure everyone’s needs are met. This is the case with the Jewish faith. Luckily the Kosher mre are now readily available. Not only are these meals available for the soldiers but also to the civilian population,  covering areas in need such as disaster relief.

As expected with members of the military, every man is expected to carry their own kosher MRE rations which are prepared to be portable. These foods are also not meant to be heavy but still stuffed with enough proteins and calories. The key benefit that comes with the use of the kosher MRE is that they require no cooking or additional water to be edible.

There are claims that these meals usually sit on the shelves and gather the dust, and then they are the issued to the troops. However, since the Jewish members are typically the minority, there is a faster throughput of these rations. Therefore, the MRE that gets to the soldier is usually fresh enough.

Kosher Meals

For these meals to be listed as true kosher, tight regulations and guidelines are put in place. Everything in the preparation process is carried out under the Jewish laws and tradition. Even the utensils in use to the packaging at the end of the process must adhere to these regulations. Unlike what most seem to think, these standards do not apply to the meat alone. The meat must be kept as per the guidelines and within the set practices. The meat first is slaughtered as established by the Jewish laws. One of the most important parts that must be checked is the sate of the animal’s lungs as there should be no blemish or similar defect.

Kosher Grains

If the Kosher MRE is grained based, the grains used must be old. According to the Jewish faith, there are five classes of grains in the olden Israel and they include rye, spelt, barley, oat and wheat. For the grains to be classified as old, they are required to be planted and take root before the Passover. However, the modern grains which include rice and corn are not affected by the regulations.

As with every other MRE, they include soups. Here too, the process strictly adhere to the guidelines to ensure that the soup is parve certifying, that the soup has no dairy products or meat included. It is also an assurance that the content has not come into contact with both dairy and meat product. To date, the Kosher MRE given to the troops of the Jewish faith are subject to the set religious requirements and so are the rations available for the civilians.
